EVMS and CHKD Autism Research Study
EVMS and CHKD are conducting a research study using a family-based therapy program to help reduce behavioral problems among 5-9 year old children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
The purpose of the study is to
learn whether or not this therapy can help reduce behavioral problems in children with ASD and improve their ability to interact with their family and peers.
Participants will be randomly assigned to a treatment or non-treatment group. If you
are assigned to the treatment group you will receive 14 weekly therapy sessions, lasting approximately 60-90 minutes each, at no cost to you. Both the treatment
and non-treatment group will:
♦ Participate in assessments of the parent-child interaction at three different time
points
♦ Complete questionnaires about parenting and your child’s development and behavior
At the conclusion of the study, you will receive a summary report and resource guide to help you with your child’s development and behavior.
Please help us learn more
about this therapy which could improve the quality of life of children with ASD and behavioral disorders and their families. If you are interested in learning more about
this research study, please call:

TACA provides information, resources, and support to families affected by autism.
One resource from the TACA site that we've found helpful is the Who Pays for What resource, that provides 22 pages of interventions and therapies for children on the spectrum and briefly describes the service, who provides it, and who should be paying for it. You can find it at:
