Scheduled Meetings

Chapter meetings are held from 7 PM - 9 PM.  The Newport News Group meets on the second Monday of the month (except for the month of August) at the Christ United Methodist Church in Newport News.  The Williamsburg Group meets the last Thursday of the month (except December, July and August) at King's Way Church in Williamsburg.  Our new Middle Peninsula Group meets on the first Monday of each month (except January) at Newington Baptist Church on Main Street in Gloucester.  See below for dates and times.

All of our meetings are open to the public, and provide a time when parents, friends, individuals with autism, teachers and professionals can meet to make new friends, support each other, and benefit from a presentation from a guest speaker. Speakers include members of the medical, educational, therapeutic, recreational, and legal communities.

Our meetings are informal and are a great chance to meet, chat, exchange information, and compare notes with other parents or family members just like you. Come and share with us - meetings are open to all. However - you do not have to be a parent to attend a meeting!  We welcome and appreciate everyone interested in learning more about autism.

Autism Awareness lapel pins, car magnets, bracelets, key chains, window clings and more are on sale for $3.00 at all chapter meetings and events.

All of our meetings offer free autism friendly childcare.  All of our childcare providers are experienced.  If you require childcare for any of our meetings, please click on the appropriate meeting location for the appropriate contact person.

Meeting Directions

From Hampton and points east - Take Route 64 west to Route 17 west (J. Clyde Morris Blvd.) towards the Mariners Museum.  Turn right on US-60 (Warwick Blvd.) and travel approximately 1½ mile.  Take a left onto Deep Creek Road and travel approximately ½ mile.  Christ United Methodist Church is on your right.

From Williamsburg and points west - Take Route 64 East to Oyster Point Road.  Travel on Oyster Point Road for approximately a mile and take a left on US-60 (Warwick Blvd.) and travel approximately 2 miles.  Take a right on to Deep Creek Road and travel approximately ½ mile.  Christ United Methodist Church in on your right.

Peninsula Childcare

Please contact Holly or Chris at (757) 223-1152 by the Sunday, before the meeting.  Please respect the deadline for reservations – it is essential for us to be able to plan for the provision of adequate coverage.

The Peninsula Group also has a group of teens that meet during each meeting in a separate room.  Please contact Holly or Chris if your teen would like to attend.

From Toano area take Rte. 199 East to Williamsburg.  Turn right at the first traffic light (directly on Rte. 199; you do not exit) onto John Tyler Highway. Go through one light; King's Way Church will be on the right side.
